Hundreds of new jobs are expected across Michigan as part of the Emerging Sectors business attraction strategy.

Various county Panning & Economic Development Services operating under the direction of Gov. Jennifer Granholm are traveling the world to attract new business sectors to Michigan. These sectors include biotechnology, nanotechnology, advanced materials and chemicals, alternative energy and power generation, medical devices and homeland security. County Executive L. Brooks Patterson has coined the term “Emerging Sectors” as a method to identify and aggressively pursue the high tech businesses that will help keep Oakland County a global leader.

"Michigan's recruitment efforts are expected to draw attention to the wealth of engineering and manufacturing capacity that are under utilized within our region," said David Darbyshire, Engineer / Owner of DASI Solutions. "Our role is to provide the technical resources to these Emerging Sector businesses who will develop innovative products and technologies." Many firms which have expanded into these new markets are achieving a high growth rates by implementing the SolidWorks and Cosmos applications as the tool of choice for their Designing Engineers.
